"How Pain Led Me to C.O.R.E. and Reinvented My Life"
💡 Sometimes the turning point begins on an ordinary morning.
On 20 July 2020, I woke up with a sharp pain in my lower back. I couldn’t stand straight, and every movement felt unbearable. Painkillers didn’t work. By the next day, the scans confirmed it: degenerative disc issues. Three months of no heavy loads, no runs, no rigorous exercise, an identity-shaking diagnosis for someone whose life had been built on discipline and service.
Physiotherapy became my routine. And one phrase kept coming up:
👉 “Sir, your recovery depends on strengthening your core.”
At first, it was about muscles. But I realized it was life wisdom. Everything; recovery, balance and stability depended on the strength of my core.
Fast forward to retirement after 28 years in the SAF. I asked myself: Who am I now? What’s next? And it struck me, the same principle that helped me stand tall again could guide my reinvention, and now, others too.
✨ Clarity – Stripping away titles and routines to ask what truly matters.
✨ Ownership – Taking full responsibility for my future by investing in new skills.
✨ Reinvention – Letting go of the uniform, embracing vulnerability, and stepping into coaching and speaking.
✨ Expansion – Founding Ascenda By K, creating frameworks like C.O.R.E., and guiding others to rediscover their extraordinary.
💡 What started as pain became purpose. What began as recovery became reinvention. Today, C.O.R.E. is the compass of my second career and the framework through which I help others transform.
Because here’s the truth: you’re not ordinary, you’re just undiscovered.
So let me ask: What would strengthening your inner C.O.R.E. make possible for you?
